Staffordshire blue brick sized quarry tiles
Jo Townshend Architects were engaged to replace an existing single storey extension to a large residential property in Brixton, with a light, openable space which would encourage parties and gatherings, and to achieve this with a minimal environmental impact.
Jo Townshend had seen Ketley's quarry tiles in use at Jerwood Space Gallery and decided they would work well for this project. The Staffordshire blue brick-sized tiles have been laid both inside and outside of the new extension, aiding a seamless connection between the interior and exterior, and creating a flexible space for open plan living.
