Roundhouse Birmingham

Client - The Canal and River Trust/The National Trust

roundhouse birmingham

Grade II listed and once used as stables and a store, the Roundhouse is one of Birminghams's most interesting and iconic industrial heritage buildings.  A partnership between the Canal and River Trust and the National Trust has allowed for the refurbishment of this iconic place  as a hub from which to explore the heart of Birmingham by foot, by bike or by water.  The reopened building is now a thriving home to local businesses and enterprise and includes a visitor centre, café, kayak hire, facilities for volunteers and shared working space.

Ketley Brick were already known to the Canal and River Trust for their authentic Staffordshire Clay bricks and pavers.  The Trust asked Ketley to produce bespoke pressed bricks and pavers to commemorate this community project.  Ketley are able to produce bespoke pressed pavers even in small quantities and for this project they produced both Staffordshire blue pavers and bullnose bricks with the pressed logos of The National Trust, The Canal and River Trust, Historic England, Lottery Fund to be laid on the steps of the entrance to the building.
